Displacement can often lead to a feeling of loss of identity, combined with the challenge of rebuilding a life in a new context with limited support networks, while also facing language, social and culture barriers. As a result, skills, talents, knowledge, experience can become unused, and aspirations lost and forgotten.
When we come together, we can start again.
Finding a support network in a new welcoming community where the right to be safe and live a life of dignity are recognised and supported, is a first step to heal. Many displaced individuals have recently arrived in the UK through talent mobility programmes led by Talent Beyond Boundaries with support, among others, from IOM.
No-one understands the meaning of healing better than those who had to flee their homes, leave everything behind, and start from scratch.
To mark Refugee Week, join us for an evening filled with stories of hope & new beginnings - and amazing dishes from Syria, on Friday 24th June, 6 pm, at Techspace Shoreditch, London. The event is co-hosted by IOM UK, Talent Beyond Boundaries and Fragomen.
