Diversifying Partnerships in Climate Action by Leveraging Diaspora Potential
The IOM UK's Diaspora for Climate Action (D4C) project, funded by the IOM Development Fund, is harnessing the skills and connections of UK-based diaspora communities to support climate action in their heritage countries. This innovative project connects diasporas from Bangladesh, Ghana, Jamaica, and Moldova with national stakeholders to address critical climate challenges, from waste management to sustainable urban planning.
A recent Medium article has highlighted that through training and national dialogues, D4C empowers "Diaspora Climate Champions" with leadership and resource mobilization skills, helping them create actionable climate plans. Notable initiatives include sustainable waste management in Ghana and raising climate awareness in Moldova through the Diaspora Connect platform. D4C aims to serve as a model for climate partnerships worldwide, contributing to global sustainability goals.
